 | David organized and directed the
first Writing The Medical Experience Conference
for poetry and prose at the Squaw Valley Community of Writers this summer.
Faculty included Richard Selzer, Rafael Campo, Danielle Ofri, Alicia
Ostriker, Jack Coulehan, Belle Waring and Frank Huyler.

 | David has a new contract with Harmony Books (an imprint of Random
House) for Bedside Manners, a book of
short stories about the practice of medicine, which will be released in
the fall of 2004.

 | David has recently contributed essays on writing about patients to
The
Pharos, JAMA and
Annals of Internal Medicine.

 | David was a featured
poet at the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities convention, in Nashville.
There, David premiered "Doc Watchit", a one-man show of
prose, poetry and humorous reflections on modern medicine.
